Hyun Soo, a woman in mid 20s, lives with a younger sister in a small leaky semi-basement flat. She tries to find a new job after an unfair dismissal. But it's not easy. And she can't get in touch with her boy friend. Sang Jin, a young man living on a rooftop of the flat has an unexpected visit from his father who is a vagabond painter. He sees Hyun Soo by chance and paints her and leaves to somewhere without saying goodbye. Thanks to the painting, Hyun Soo and Sang Jin meets.

Sung-gil Oh is a budding comic artist who suffers in slump, so-called Writer's Block. Trying to get out of a slump, Sung-gil drives his mom's car to a park for a working out everyday. However, the real reason he works out is to see a charming girl that he has a crush on(even though he has a girlfriend). One day, Sung-gil finally gets a chance to talk to her after 2 months waiting. But after a while he was following her, Sung-gil gets lost in woods. And then, one stranger comes up to puzzled Sung-gil. This man seems friendly and suggests Sung-gil pitching(he even hands out balls to). However, he never hits a ball that Sung-gil pitches. When Sung-gil tries to quit pitching, the man claims that he wants some money for batting.

Director Seong Seungtaek discovered these ledgers among his elderly parents’ belongings when they moved in together after 30 years apart. Carefully examining those records, which are both precious documentation of his family history and his mother’s intimate diary, the director creates another important historical document. As Mother’s Household Ledger gradually intertwines the family story with modern Korean history and their shared memories, our hearts are profoundly stirred. The mother wrote down the passage of time, and the son now illuminates the world imbued with that time.
